Do You Have Any Of The Following Conditions?
It is really vital to recognize that chiropractic does not actually and specifically treat conditions such as a headache, stiff neck, and whatever else ails the individual. Chiropractic, through mechanical methods, conditions the spine and body to perform better in a body that just happens to have headache, stiff neck, and whatever else ails the individual. Please understand that chiropractors treat the person who happens to have an unhealthy condition.

HEADACHE TREATMENT
Bellingham's Life Chiropractic knows full well that living with headaches is tough.
Day after day of being miserable, irritable, and looking a lot older than you really are. The frustration of knowing that your friends and family don’t understand what you’re going through.
It's enough to make anyone want to scream!
Chiropractic headache treatment is one of my favorite clinical activities. For years I’ve been helping patients with neck tension, headaches and migraines live pain free or with less pain.
Every week I hear how women suffer from severe headaches – statements like…
• “I feel like my head is in a vice.”
• “My eyes hurt and I feel so drowsy.”
• “I have to lie down.”
• “I’ve had migraines since childhood.”
• “Muscle tension in the neck and pain into the shoulders.”
Could ProAdjuster Chiropractic Treatment Be Your Headache Solution?
Numerous studies have shown the benefits of spinal adjustments with headache patients.
The Boline Study
This study compared two groups of headache patients; half went for chiropractic adjustments, the other half took amitriptyline, a medication often prescribed for the treatment of severe tension headache pain. After six weeks researchers found that chiropractic patients experienced almost no side effects. And only the chiropractic patients continued to report fewer headaches when treatment ended. Boline, PD, Kassak, K, et al. “Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics.” March/April 1995; Vol. 18, No. 3, pp. 148-154.
The Duke Study
Medical experts concluded that spinal manipulations resulted in almost immediate improvement for headaches. Patients also had significantly fewer side effects and longer-lasting relief of headaches than a commonly-prescribed medication. McCrory, DC, et al. “Evidence Report: Behavioral and Physical Treatments for Tension-type and Cervicogenic Headache.” Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center.” Durham, North Carolina, January 2001.
Headaches are a common complaint that can be caused by a range of factors. Those that can be traced to disorders in the neck are called cervicogenic headaches, and this type of headache may affect as many as 20 percent1 of patients experiencing chronic head pain. Although their symptoms are similar to those of tension headaches and migraines, cervicogenic headaches are often a result of injury or other trauma. Because cervicogenic headaches often restrict a patient’s range of motion, this condition can seriously impact physical abilities and overall quality of life.
New research published in Chiropractic & Osteopathy supports the case for using chiropractic spinal manipulation to treat cervicogenic headaches. A team of researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, compared the effects of spinal manipulation treatment to light massage on a group of 80 patients suffering from cervicogenic headache. They found that over a 12-week period, 42% of study participants who received spinal manipulation treatment reported significant pain reduction compared to just 23% of those who received massage. During that same period, the chiropractic group experienced a greater reduction in the number of headaches (64% versus 46%) and reported that pain interfered less with their daily activities.
After 24 weeks, patients in the chiropractic group continued to experience greater benefit from their treatment, with 56% reporting that their head pain was less disabling compared to 38% improvement among the control group. Over three-quarters of participants who received spinal manipulation treatment noted some reduction in the number of headaches during the course of the study.
The study’s authors conclude that, "Spinal manipulation had a clinically important advantage over light massage in headache pain, number, and disability." Their research shows that chiropractic treatment can have substantial and lasting benefits for a significant percentage of people suffering from cervicogenic headaches.

STIFF NECK
If you’re over the age of 30 and suffer from a stiff neck, tingling in the arms, or headaches, this is a very important article for you to read and absorb.
Why Haven’t People With a Stiff Neck Been Told These Facts?
A recent scientific study showed chiropractic adjustments outperformed massage treatments in reducing pain. The study concluded that patients with a chronic stiff neck and neck pain showed “clinically important improvements from a course of spinal manipulation… The current evidence does not support a similar level of benefit from massage.”
“Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics.” 2007.
In another study comparing acupuncture, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, and spinal manipulation found…
“After a median intervention period of 30 days, spinal manipulation was the only intervention that achieved statistically significant improvements.
“Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics.” 1999.
In addition to that, here’s what some of the top medical researchers had to say …
Chiropractor’s manipulation of the spine was “more helpful than any of the following: traction, massage, biofeedback, acupuncture, injection of steroids into the spine and back corsets, and ultrasound.” – Stanley Bigos, MD, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.
Effects on Daily Activities
A "simple" thing such as a stiff neck can affect your sleep, your marriage and your job. The 9 Most Dangerous Words A Person With a Stiff Neck Can Say or Think
“Maybe it will just go away on its own.”
A 1998 study in the British Medical Journal proved this myth false, showing that most back pain sufferers who do nothing will have pain 12 months later. That’s no way to live.

ER Visits Soaring for Prescription Painkiller Misuse
Abuse of OxyContin, Vicodin and the like keeps rising, U.S. government report shows.
By Steven Reinberg, HealthDay Reporter
THURSDAY, June 17, 2010. (HealthDay News) -- Recent years have seen a steep rise in U.S. emergency department visits by people abusing prescription pain drugs such as OxyContin, Vicodin and Dilaudid, a new report finds.
Misuse of oxycodone (brand name OxyContin) rose 152 percent between 2004 and 2008, to more than 105,000 emergency room visits. For products containing hydrocodone (Vicodin, for example) emergency department visits rose 123 percent, to more than 89,000; and for the heroin-substitute methadone emergency department visits rose 73 percent, to close to 64,000, according to the report.
CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
Who Else Wants To Get Rid Of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Symptoms Without Surgery?
If you are over 30 and having wrist or hand pain, you must read what these studies reveal about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that affects everything in your life. It’s difficult to sleep and painful to work. You’re unable to enjoy life to its fullest.
One pregnant female patient said it like this…
“I dread going to bed, I dread sweeping, doing dishes…any kind of household chores I dread – because of the pain."
Over the past 28 years I’ve seen dozens of carpal tunnel sufferers leave my office pain free or with a lot less pain. Many patients tell me they wished they’d found me sooner. Suffering for years was agonizing for them. I want to let you know there is real hope…
You Now Have an Option …One That Really Works
Scientific studies have proven that chiropractic is effective in helping carpal tunnel patients live a better life with eliminated or decreased symptoms.
One study showed that with chiropractic care, patients had “significant improvement in perceived comfort and function, nerve conduction and finger sensation overall.” – Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, 1998.
Another research study concluded…
“Significant increase in grip strength and normalization of motor and sensory latencies were noted. Orthopedic tests were negative. Symptoms dissipated.” – Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, 1994.
Also, an often-overlooked cause of carpal tunnel symptoms can come from nerve roots in the neck and upper back as they exit the spine. A study in the Lancet journal showed that up to 75% of carpal tunnel patients also had nerve problems in their neck.
Dr. Susan MacKinnon, professor of surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, said the high failure rate of surgery has caused her to rethink the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome.
She states even after surgery problems like neck stiffness and shoulder pain persist in patients.
Could Life Chiropractic's ProAdjuster computerized treatment instrument be your solution to Carpal Tunnel pain, stiffness, and weakness?
Perhaps these studies, and others, are correct in that carpal tunnel is related to a stiff neck, muscle weakness, and shoulder pain and other problems.
Feel the Improvement – and Say “Yes” to Life Again
If we can find the cause with our evaluation and determine that you qualify for chiropractic treatment we can start work on correcting it. Think of how you canl feel in just a few short weeks.
Remember what it was like before you had carpal tunnel problems. You were pain free and could enjoy everything life had to offer. It can be that way again. Don’t neglect your problem any longer – don’t wait until it’s too late.
As you begin to see motion returning to your joints, you’re preventing and reducing chances of disability and a crippling future because you are now freely moving body parts that were designed to freely move. Why waste your time and energy by restricting body parts with a brace or asking those body parts to perform poor quality exercises which do not address any nerve root problems in the neck and/or upper back.
Soon you’ll be able to live life like a normal person again, without carpal tunnel pain – able to play with your kids, enjoy time with friends, and not have to worry that your pain will hit you at just the wrong time. This injury, and that is what it is, when left unchecked will frequently lead to more degrading neck, shoulder, and upper back problems.
Here’sWhat to Do Right Now
If you are a carpal tunnel sufferer, stop neglecting your symptoms and futile attempts at short-term relief and covering up symptoms with pain killers and inappropriate or ill-timed exercise and stretching.
Make a strong commitment to rid yourself of progressively more complicated symptoms. At Life Chiropractic we will utilize our comfortable, safe ProAdjuster Carpal Treatment methods to specifically treat the cause(s) of your carpal tunnel syndrome.
Don’t neglect your hands and wrists any longer, disabling you for life. Take committed action and call (360) 734-5433 and make your first appointment for your initial consultation, evaluation, and spinal stress analysis.
P.S. Are you taking pain pills or considering having surgery on your carpal tunnel pain?
If so, perhaps you should wait and try a natural approach. Surgery is expensive, takes time to recover, and many doctors agree it should only be used as a last resort.
P.P.S. Nothing’s worse than feeling great mentally, but physically feeling held back from life because your wrists and hands hurt – and the pain and stiffness just won’t go away!
NEUROPATHY
1. A general term for any dysfunction in the peripheral nervous system. Symptoms include pain, muscle weakness, numbness, loss of coordination and paralysis. This condition may result in permanent disability.
2. Neuropathy refers to any disease or injury affecting nerves or nerve cells.
Which Of These Neuropathy Symptoms Cause You to Suffer?
• Pins and needles feeling
• Numbness in the hands or feet
• Tingling or burning sensations
• Weakness in the arms or legs
• Sharp shooting or burning pains
Neuropathy affects every part of your life -- walking, sitting, and even sleeping.
As a chiropractor, I've been helping people with neuropathy and nerve problems for more than 28 years.
More than 20 million Americans suffer from peripheral neuropathy, a problem caused by damage or irritation to the nerves that supply your arms and legs.
This painful condition interferes with your body's ability to transmit messages to your muscles, skin, joints, or internal organs. If ignored or mistreated, neuropathy can lead to irreversible health conditions.
Why not get help by those trained to correct the major cause of peripheral neuropathy?
Data from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners' Job Analysis of Chiropractic lists arm and leg neuropathy as the second most common nerve problem treated by chiropractors.
Often neuropathy is caused by a degenerating spine pressing on the nerve roots. This can happen in any of the vertebral joints from the neck all the way down to the tail bone.
A Possible Solution to Your Neuropathy
By using gentle techniques, we are able to release the pressure that has built up on the nerve. This allows the nerve to heal over time and the symptoms to go away.
If You Suffer From A Single One Of These Torturous Symptoms – Numbness, Burning, Tingling, Pins and Needles, Muscle Weakness. or Sharp Nerve Pain – THEN THE FACTS BELOW MAY BE THE MOST IMPORTANT YOU HAVE EVER READ IN A LONG TIME!
Numerous studies have proven chiropractic's effectiveness in helping nerve conditions...
“Manipulation [chiropractic adjustments], with or without exercise, improved symptoms more than medical care did after both 3 and 12 months.”– British Medical Journal.
Patients showed an 85.5% resolution of the nerve symptoms after only 9 chiropractic treatments. - Journal of Chiropractic Medicine 2008.
With chiropractic care, patients had “significant improvement in perceived comfort and function, nerve conduction and finger sensation overall.” – Journal of Manipulative and Physiolgical Therapeutics, 1998.
“Significant increase in grip strength and normalization of motor and sensory latencies were noted. Orthopedic tests were negative. Symptoms dissipated.” – Journal of Manipultive and Physiological Therapeutics, 1994.
"the spinal origin of neuropathic pain is not always obvious because spondylotic (spinal)degeneration follows a gradual, relapsing and remitting course that is silent. Pain can arise with no history of trauma, and laboratory, radiological and other tests are unhelpful."

INSOMNIA, ANXIETY, MEDS MAY SHORTEN LIFE SPAN
12-year Canadian study links drugs to 36 percent higher morality rate
By MyHealthNewsDaily Staff
Taking medications to treat insomnia or anxiety may shorten some people's lives, according to the results of a 12-year study in Canada.
The new findings are based on surveys of more than 14,000 Canadians, ages 18 to 102, that began in 1994 and kept track of their mortality rates.
Every two years, participants answered questions about their social demographics, lifestyle andhealth. They also answered questions about their use of sedative drugs, including tranquilizers such as Valium, or sleeping pills, such as Nytol.
For respondents who, at the start of the survey, reported taking medication for insomnia or anxiety at least once in the month, the mortality rate over the 12-year period was 15.7 percent. By comparison, respondents who had reported not using such medication had a mortality rate of 10.5 percent.
"These medications aren't candy, and taking them is far from harmless," study researcher Geneviève Belleville, a professor at Université Laval in Québec, said in a statement.
After taking into account other factors that might affect mortality rates — including alcohol and tobacco consumption, physical health, physical activity level and symptoms of depression — the researchers associated sleeping pills or anxiety-relieving medications with a 36 percent increase in the risk of dying during the 12-year period.
The greatest differences in mortality rate between drug users and nonusers were observed in the age groups of 55 to 64 years and 65 to 74 years, according to the study.
The researchers, whose results appear in the September issue of the Canadian Journal of Psychiatry, said a number of factors might explain the link between these medications and increased mortality. Sleeping pills and anxiety drugs affect reaction time, alertness and coordination, and so they may contribute to falls and other accidents, the researchers said. The medications also may aggravate certain breathing problems during sleep. And some of the drugs work on the central nervous system in ways that may affect judgment and thus increase the risk of suicide.
"Given that cognitive behavioral therapies have shown good results in treating insomnia and anxiety, doctors should systematically discuss such therapies with their patients as an option. Combining a pharmacological approach in the short term with psychological treatment is a promising strategy for reducing anxiety and promoting sleep. Belleville said.
